Internet Marketing Insights - Your Customer Isn't Necessarily the Same As You
How often do Internet marketers assume that the people they are trying to sell something to have the same values and life experiences that they do? It happens a lot more often than you might imagine. This article is about the Internet marketing topic of understanding that your customer isn't necessarily like you. In other words, your own personal beliefs and values may differ dramatically from the people who you are trying to reach through your Internet marketing efforts.
A lot of aspiring Internet marketers fall into the trap of believing that anything that they offer has to conform to their own personal set of beliefs and values. While it is true that we must each remain true to our own value system, some people take this to an extreme which results in their not attaining the optimal level of Internet marketing results that they would otherwise be capable of obtaining. So what can you do to avoid this trap and to make sure that you are not only being fair to yourself and your own values but also providing the highest level of quality product and/or service to your customers?
I highly recommend that you spend some time really thinking about who your target customers really are. Try to get inside their mind. You can do this by reading relevant message forums that are regularly visited by people who you are targeting. You will soon get a sense of what their value system is, and you will soon gain a better understanding of what makes them tick as people. When you do this, you will be getting outside of yourself and gaining a new perspective. Then, you can market to these individuals in a way that is both ethical but that also addresses their concerns and needs (even if they differ from yours).
